IMHO, the greatest service OONA & Lori Baldwin provide is fore fronting the dysfunction of normal. Not only culturally, but as a species, we appear stuck in a bad space until that is confronted and remedied.
In psychology alone, this is identified by Gustave Le Bon and Sigmund Freud. This is at the very beginning of psychology. The issue appears much earlier in religion and philosophy. IMHO there is nothing more important to examine.
"A cargo cult is an indigenist millenarian belief system, in which adherents perform rituals which they believe will cause a more technologically advanced society to deliver goods." - Wikipedia
You can see this activity today in the form of pseudoscience, ritual inclusion of computer codes that serve no purpose, and prosperity theology.
I'm disappointed that your article lacked a balanced perspective that would require including bosonic string theory supersymmetry in 26 dimensions. as theorized by Claud Lovelace.
I'm aware of the previous article written by Paul Halpern, Professor of Physics at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA. you published here about Lovelace relaxing the assumption that strings lived in a four-dimensional world.
Your persistence in holding to previous prejudices in physics while the existence of more than four dimensions is today generally accepted in modeling theory appears to be the source of my dissatisfaction.
An article addressing the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics would be appreciated. It would seem that there is plenty of room for them in 26 dimensions.
Yes, I agree with your assessment. That's why I go to bed and every night dream of waking up in one of the Many Worlds predicted by quantum mechanics today and by religious, sci-fi, and fantasy writers of the past.
Since the only action I expect to see is the ultra-wealthy constructing better bunkers, hoarding more resources, and increasing the militarization of their security, the slide into oblivion will predictably only accelerate. It's a statistical inevitability.
Transhumanism can not be stopped. Our species occupies a very narrow evolutionary niche, that of technology users. Once we've exploited that niche to exhaustion, we will go extinct as a species. Transhumanism is exactly how we will produce our evolutionary legacy, much as we are the evolutionary legacy of chimpanzees and the hominids that we drove to extinction before us. That's how evolution works and why 95% of all once existent species are now extinct. We are destined to join that cohort.
So sad that "structural changes" are just one level less remote from the real problem than the actions of individual fans and creators. Please consider that the structures themselves emerge from their environmental complexity. Structure is merely emergent phenomena.
Then, perhaps consider how all collective nouns are in fact fictions. Making collective nouns is an act of reductionism in the face of inconceivable numbers of individuals.
It merely seems that you exercised your naivety about the profound normalized dysfunction of our species. It was our very own normalized dysfunctional society that not only permitted and enabled "the technologists who pursued control over liberation" but promoted them to positions of power. Nature, through the mechanism of evolution, has seen this many times before. After all, 95% of all species that ever existed are now extinct. We are soon to join that cohort, like a fart in the wind.
