Massive corporations appear enabled by huge markets created from polarized segments of large populations. This is all derived from our success as a species in the narrow evolutionary niche of technology user. It is this success that dooms us as a species to a relatively early extinction. Evolutionary biologists know all about this and frequently write about it.

It's human nature that's always been the challenge, not nature at large that has to be dominated. All the variations of political-economy just seem like bandages on cancers. Human society is dysfunctional because the individuals who make up society are dysfunctional.

Dysfunctional human society has now arrived at end-stage capitalism and global environmental breakdown.

The only way the massive corporations will be disempowered is by a gross decrease in global population and the strings of power that massive corporations pull will not promote that. The concerns of Malthus are being realized in ways he never imagined.
